Seven Keys to Staying Motivated

by | Personal Development

Have you ever started a new adventure, project, business, goal (you name it) and felt your inspiration fade away as fast as it showed up? That’s because motivation comes and goes. So, what do we do when inspiration runs dry? To keep on going even when you don’t feel like it, we’re  sharing seven keys to staying motivated.

Know your “why”.

When it comes to staying motivated, we usually start with “why” we started in the first place. This applies to any area of your life. Why did you start working out? Why did you start your business? Or why did you start daily meditation? When you dig down deep and remember the core reason why you’re working so hard to accomplish any given goal, you’ll keep on going no matter what.

Develop self-discipline.

When motivation runs low, self-discipline and willpower will get you through. Develop good work habits now so that you’re able to continue working for your goals even when you don’t feel like it.

We attribute much of our success to our work ethic. Discipline is even a core value of ours, and we believe in it so much that we wrote a blog about it! Check it out for tips on how to develop self-discipline and willpower

Start a morning routine.

The morning sun shines from behind a hill onto a field of brown grass.

Speaking of self-discipline and creating good habits, our third tip for staying motivated is to start a morning routine to set up every day for success. Starting your day by taking care of your mind and body will help you build momentum and increase your productivity. You’ll begin the day with a WIN, and that can’t hurt, right?

Check out this blog post for a list of 30 morning routine ideas.

Practice gratitude.

It’s time for a reset. Sometimes we simply need a reminder to be grateful for our life as it is right now. Enjoying the journey allows you to live in the present. Practice gratitude as a way to enjoy today while staying motivated for your future hopes and dreams!

Here are a few ways to express gratitude:

  • Start a gratitude journal.
  • Share what you’re thankful for around the dinner table.
  • Tell someone how much you appreciate them.
  • Make an uplifting music playlist to listen to.

Take care of your body.

Our minds may be in the right place, but what about our bodies? If we don’t take care of our bodies, we will run out of steam reaching for our big vision.

Here are some simple ways to take care of your body:

Stay connected.

The truth is the journey of life and business should not be traveled alone. Find like-minded, positive people who will keep you inspired and motivated! These are the ones who will cheer you on and celebrate your wins with you. They’re also the ones who will keep you accountable for your goals and dreams.

But how do you get connected? Here are some ideas:

  • Attend networking events.
  • Get involved in your community.
  • Strike up genuine conversations while you’re out and about

Find them positive people, and stick with them.

Focus outward.

When nothing else seems to get you out of your funk, focus on others. When we are inward focused, it’s easy to begin to feel down and unmotivated—especially when we experience hardships, setbacks, or tough times.

Sometimes what you need is to do something for someone else. Pour into others. Lift people up.Be a light to those around you. Serve others. Invest in people.

Focusing on the impact you can make in other people’s lives will motivate you to keep on going.

Stay motivated and keep going!

What it all comes down to is that your dreams are worth the hard work! And sometimes, our internal motivation meter isn’t always at full blast, so it’s important to set yourself (and your ambitions) up for success.

We hope this list helps you stay motivated and inspired to keep after it! If you need even more internal motivation, check out our blog on how to “Compete with Yourself.”
