The Power of a Positive Attitude

by | Personal Development

We always say, “improve your attitude; improve your life!” And we believe that to our core. The power of a positive attitude is a real thing, but not just because we say so. There have been many studies to back it up.

Not only are we sharing the benefits of staying positive, but we’ll also talk about how to cultivate optimism and positivity in your everyday life!

Benefits of a Positive Attitude

The benefits of having a positive attitude are many, but we’re highlighting three that are at the top of our list when it comes to being a successful entrepreneur.

Colorful letters made from metal spell the word “hope.”

Less Depressed and Less Stressed

According to the Mayo Clinic™, positive thinking reduces stress. Among MANY other health benefits, stress management is a compelling enough reason to turn that frown upside down. In the same Mayo Clinic article, the author writes, “It’s unclear why people who engage in positive thinking experience these health benefits. One theory is that having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations, which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your body.”

So, less stress means overall good health. And we’re here for it.

More Creative Thinking and Problem Solving

Rather than approaching a tough scenario with a doom and gloom attitude, being optimistic about the outcome allows you to maintain a problem-solving mindset. With a positive outlook, you’re more likely to find a solution by getting creative and thinking outside of the box.

Work Well with Others

Nobody wants to work with a “Debbie Downer.” After all, your attitude whether positive or negative, is contagious. Create an uplifting environment that others want to be a part of by encouraging those around you, sharing your dreams, and following through on your commitments. You’ll not only be an inspiration to those around you, but you’ll give them the motivation to have the same outlook on life.

Cultivating a Positive Attitude

Of course, there are people who are naturally optimistic. For others, a positive attitude may take time and practice, and that’s okay. Let’s talk about three ways to cultivate positive thinking.

Start Your Day Off Right

Nothing ruins a day like a bad morning. Set yourself up for success by creating and sticking to a morning routine. Take the time in the morning to practice mindfulness, move your body, or simply sit in silence. Starting your day off the right way will work wonders on your outlook on life!

Keep a Gratitude Journal

Have an attitude of gratitude because it’s hard to stay in a negative headspace when you’re grateful for the big and little blessings in your life. Don’t know where to get started? Check out this Shutterfly™ article on how to start a gratitude journal for ideas.

Control Your Environment

If you’ve been stuck in a cycle of negative thinking, it may feel like you’ve lost control over your life. Take it back! You have control of the people you hang out with, the books that you read, the things that you watch, and even the thoughts that you let dwell in your mind.

If you have a difficult time letting go of negative thoughts, check out this Verywell Mind™ article, “How to Change Negative Thinking.”

You have more control than you think!

Share Positivity with Others!

The best part about being an uplifting person with a positive attitude is that you’ll spread that positivity to others and make an impact that can change lives.

And while we’re all in a great mood now, head over to our blog post on “Seven Ways to Lift People Up.” Take that positivity and share the love!
