Valentine’s Day may get a bad rap sometimes. While one group of people love the holiday and go all out, the other group believes it to be an unnecessary celebration driven by the consumer industry. But we say, just have a little fun with it! Whether you’re celebrating with your significant other or a group of friends, we’ve compiled a unique list of Valentine’s Day date ideas.

Around Town Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

The first group of fun ideas is for you if you’d prefer to head out on the town! Here are five Valentine’s Day date ideas that will get you out of the house:

Pottery Painting

Have you ever painted pottery? It’s now easier than ever to do! With franchises like Color Me Mine™ or local pottery painting shops, you can pick out a piece of pottery, paint it to your liking, and they’ll fire it in the kiln for you. Usually, you’ll be able to pick up your finished product within a few days! If you’re not sure whether or not you have a pottery painting business in your area, head to Google™ and search “pottery painting [CITY NAME].”

Bowling or Mini Golf

When’s the last time you went bowling or played miniature golf? Go act like a kid again and play a game or two! Bonus if there’s an arcade there. Play your favorites, and even earn tickets to win a prize. 😉

Walk or Hike

If you’re looking for something more lowkey where you’re able to connect and talk, consider going for a walk or hike together. Now, it’s still winter, so depending on the weather this may or may not work. But even on a brisk day, bundling up and going for a walk is quite peaceful!

Coffee Shop Date

If the weather truly doesn’t allow for an outdoor adventure, but you still want to get out of the house, a simple coffee shop date will do! If you can, support a small business by visiting a local coffee shop, enjoying a cup of your favorite drink, and spending time connecting.

Hometown Crawl

The last Valentine’s Day date idea is a bit of a catch-all! Make a whole day of it by heading to your favorite pastry or donut shop. Then head to a local coffee shop (maybe even drive through so that you can go for a nice drive afterward). Hit up a park or trail to go for a walk with your drink in hand. Then grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant. You get the idea! This is a fun way to shop small while enjoying all your favorites (or trying something new) in one day.

At Home Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

So, you’re not interested in going out on Valentine’s Day? We get it. Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate at home:

Homemade Spa Day

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we think of being pampered! But guess what? You don’t have to go to a fancy spa to experience some self-care. Enjoy a home spa day together and pamper away!

Bake Something New

We’re all about the yummy, sweet treats … especially for Valentine’s Day. So, we encourage you to get in the kitchen and bake something new. Head to this blog with 55 best Valentine’s Day desserts to find a recipe you’ve never tried before and have fun with this bonding activity.

Gift/Letter Exchange

Valentine’s Day may be known for gifting chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. But let’s get unique! Instead of the typical traditional gifts, try a Valentine’s homemade gift exchange. A second idea is to write each other a letter to exchange and read. Both options are great ways to make this day more meaningful and intentional.

Rom-Com Day

What’s Valentine’s Day without a romantic comedy? Stay indoors and cozy up for a movie day. Make popcorn, grab a favorite snack or treat, and enjoy time together while you watch a favorite movie of yours.

Read Together

Sometimes, enjoying some peace and quiet together is exactly what the soul needs. Being together doesn’t have to be filled with noise. Simply being in each other’s presence is quality time. And picking up a book to read is just a bonus!
